Spotlight on the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date

Spotlight on the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date

Rolex created a special exhibition celebrating the new Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40, which was on display in Sri Lanka exclusively at Chatham Luxury from 21 to 28 September 2016.

The Oyster Perpetual Day-Date, Rolex’s most prestigious model, is known as the presidents watch thanks to the heads of state and other eminent figures who have worn it over the years. From when it was launched in 1956, the Day-Date represented the pinnacle of watchmaking at the time, with, for example, the calendar function that indicated the day of the week spelled out in full in a window on the dial in addition to the date. The new generation was unveiled in 2015.

Visitors to the exhibition were invited to discover the history and technology behind the Day-Date, presented on five panels whose configuration was inspired by the models iconic President bracelet. In addition to 3D, interactive videos, archive photographs and an exploded view of a movement, several of the new collections models were on display.
